Storing your boat at Hallberg Marine should be simple, clear, and worry free. With a process that involves scheduling, contracts, and optional services like winterizing or trailer rentals, it can feel a bit complex. That’s why we’ve put together a step by step guide to walk you through what to expect for both Fall Drop Off and Spring Pick Up. Our goal is to make sure you’re well informed and fully prepared, so there are no surprises along the way. Please read through the following instructions carefully, and don’t hesitate to reach out with any questions.
Will My Boat Be Stored Inside?
At Hallberg Marine we do our best to store as many boats as we can indoors. Roughly 2/3 of our boats are stored inside buildings, and the other 1/3 are shrink wrapped. If your pontoon is more than 22′ long or your boat is more than 18′ long, there is a higher chance it will be shrink wrapped. We do not accommodate special requests for Indoor or Outdoor service.
Advantages to Indoor Storage: A little more protection from the outdoor elements like wind and snow.
Advantages to Shrink Wrap: Boat interiors tend to stay cleaner over the winter. Our storage buildings can get dusty during dry and windy seasons.
Fall Drop Off Procedure
1. Make a Reservation: Click HERE to make a reservation. When you make a boat storage reservation you are making a reservation for the season, not a reservation for a time to drop off. You can drop your boat off any time or day during our drop off hours. You do not need to schedule a day or give us any notice.
2. Park in Center Lane: When you arrive, please park your boat in the center lane of our parking lot, we have plenty of space and the parking lot is a pull through. If you are having service in addition to storage, park near the Service Department.
3. Check in at the Front Office: Your first stop should be the Front Office, whether or not you are receiving service. Look for the red and yellow flags at the front door that read: “Boat Storage Start Here.”
4. Complete Your Storage Contract: You’ll fill out a Boat Storage Contract with our Office Team.
-
- Need to rent a trailer? We’ll assist you with a trailer rental at this time.
- You get a $20 discount if you pay by cash or check at drop off.
6. Tag Your Boat: If you’re doing storage only, our Office Team will give you a blue tag for you to place on your boat. If you are having winterizing or other services, you will head over to our Service Department where our Service Team will talk you through your options.

Spring Pick Up Procedure
1. Schedule Your Pick Up: Call our Front Office at 651-462-4516 to make a Spring Pick Up reservation. We require at least a 3 full business day notice to schedule your boat out of storage. You are able to pick your boat up any time during business hours on the day that you scheduled. IMPORTANT!!! If you are looking at the weather on Thursday afternoon and notice sunshine for the weekend, it is already too late to schedule your boat out. The alternative to this, if it rains on the day you scheduled, we require that you pick your boat up that day, late pick ups may result in a fee. The reason we have this policy is because we prep boats for Spring Pick Up several days in advance to ensure a consistent and successful customer experience for everyone. We also have a policy that limits us to 80 boats picked up per day, but this rarely becomes an issue.
- If you need to rent a trailer, let us know while you are scheduling your Spring Pick Up and we will have your boat loaded on our rental trailer for your scheduled day. If your boat is on our rental trailer and you do not pick it up on your scheduled day, you will be charged for the the additional days that your boat is on our trailer. We hold onto a physical credit card while the trailer is out.
- All outstanding bills must be paid in full before your boat will be scheduled.
- The earliest boats can be scheduled out is April 1st.
- If you would like our Service Team to perfom a Spring Start Up, please request it at the time of scheduling.
2. If You Scheduled a Spring Start Up → Stop in Service Department: Our Service Team will take payment for your Spring Start Up and get your boat pulled out for you.
3. If You Did Not Schedule a Spring Start Up → Stop in Front Office: Make sure to bring your photo ID. Our Office Team will check your ID and give you a slip for pick up. They will give you directions on how to get to our Spring Pick Up lot where your boat will be waiting for you.
4. Shrink Wrap: If your boat was shrink wrapped, you can pull the shrink wrap off and leave it next to the boat. If you need help pulling it off, flag down someone from our Team and we will give you a hand.
5. Inspect Your Boat: Now is the time to walk around your boat and make sure everything is secured. Loose items like covers, cushions, cupholders and lifejackets have a tendency to fly out while driving down the road.
6. Hook Up and Head Out: We wish you a smooth, safe, and successful boating season!
